American College of Radiology Imaging Network
ACRIN, in operation since March 1999, is a cooperative group that
manages clinical trials of imaging technologies as they relate to
cancer. ACRIN both funds and provides a complete infrastructure for
multi-institutional clinical trials of imaging and related disciplines
applied to cancer with support from the National Cancer Institute. It
facilitates the development and implementation of trials, data
acquisition and management, Operations Manual design and biostatistical analysis,
monitoring and quality assurance, financial management, and reporting of
trials results.
American College of Radiology
For more than 75 years, the ACR has been the nation's leading voice for
radiology, providing its members with vital education, research,
scientific information, and advocacy to continually advance the
radiology profession and enhance patient care. Today, the ACR remains
focused on advancing the science of radiology and improving the quality
of patient care through the latest in continuing education material,
programs, and cutting-edge research to guide the future of radiology and
patient care.
Academy of Molecular Imaging
AMI is a progressive organization that builds the school of thought,
scientific paradigms and clinical practices of Molecular Imaging to
advance the growing field of Molecular Medicine. The Academy holds an
annual conference and programs which focus on education in molecular
imaging, from basic science to clinical practice and it interacts with
government agencies, foundations and the public to increase their
knowledge and awareness of molecular imaging and to gain their support.
The Academy and its journal are involved in the various technologies of
molecular imaging and multimodalities formed by merging together imaging
of biological processes with imaging anatomical structures within which
these processes take place. This includes such technologies as PET,
optical imaging, MRI, SPECT, CT and ultrasound. The primary focus of AMI
is in vivo molecular imaging, as well as in vitro studies that underlie
the in vivo approaches.
American Society of Clinical Oncology
ASCO is the world's leading professional organization representing
physicians who treat people with cancer. ASCO's members set the standard
for patient care worldwide and lead the way in carrying out clinical
research aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of
cancer. ASCO's efforts are also directed toward advocating for policies
that provide access to high-quality care for all patients with cancer
and at supporting the increased funding for clinical and translational
research. ASCO has more than 23,500 members from over 100 countries.
ASCO's membership is composed of clinical oncologists representing all
oncology disciplines (medical, surgical, and radiologic oncology) and
subspecialties; physicians and health-care professionals participating
in approved oncology training programs; oncology nurses; and other
health-care practitioners with a predominant interest in oncology.
The Society of Nuclear Medicine
The Society of Nuclear Medicine is an international scientific and
professional organization of more than 16,000 members dedicated to
promoting the science, technology and practical applications of nuclear
medicine and molecular imaging to diagnose, manage and treat diseases in
women, men and children. Founded more than 50 years ago, SNM continues
to train physicians, technologists, scientists, physicists, chemists and
radiopharmacists in state-of-the-art imaging procedures and advances;
provide essential resources for health care practitioners and patients;
publish the preeminent peer-reviewed resource in the field of nuclear
and molecular imaging-The Journal of Nuclear Medicine; sponsor research
grants, fellowships and awards; and host the premier nuclear
medicine conference. SNM members have developed-and continue to
explore-biological and technological innovations in medicine to look
noninvasively into the molecular basis of diseases to benefit patients
worldwide.
